Vedic sciences award for Dr. T. Selva
Kuala Lumpur: Vasthu Sastra Guide book author and columnist Dr. T. Selva was honoured by the Malaysian Astrological Society (MAS) recently for his outstanding contribution to the growth and promotion of Vedic sciences in Malaysia and internationally.
He received the society’s Felicitation of Meritorious Service Award for Growth of Vedic Sciences at the society’s annual general meeting in Kuala Lumpur.
The award recognised Dr Selva’s many years of dedicated service in sharing the ancient wisdom of Vasthu Sastra and astrology through his newspaper columns, books, public talks, workshops and international appearances.
In its citation, MAS president Thayalan Krishnasamy expressed his appreciation for Dr. Selva’s “invaluable knowledge and dedicated efforts” in propagating the science of Vasthu Sastra and astrology in Malaysia and globally.
Dr. Selva is widely recognised as one of the pioneering figures who brought Vasthu Sastra into mainstream public awareness outside India.
An award-winning journalist, author, international speaker and researcher of Vedic sciences, he has devoted much of his life to presenting this ancient knowledge in a practical and accessible manner.
Receiving the award, Dr Selva said the honour was not merely a recognition of his personal journey but also an acknowledgment of the timeless Vedic wisdom preserved and shared by generations of teachers, researchers and practitioners.
“I receive this award with humility, gratitude and a deep sense of responsibility,” he said.
“An award of this nature is not the end of a journey. It is an encouragement to continue sharing this sacred knowledge with sincerity, clarity and integrity.”
He thanked MAS president and the society’s board members and its members for the recognition.
He also paid tribute to his Guru, Seventh-Generation Vasthu Sastra Master Yuvaraj Sowma, teachers, family, readers, and supporters who had encouraged him throughout his journey.
Dr. Selva said Vedic sciences should not be treated merely as systems of prediction or superstition but as bodies of knowledge that can help people understand the relationship between human life, nature, time, space and the cosmic order.
“For me, Vasthu Sastra has never been merely about the position of a door, room or building.
“It is about creating harmony between people, their surroundings and the natural energies that sustain life,” said Dr. Selva, who is the author of the bestseller book Vasthu Sastra Guide.
He expressed hope that younger generations would continue to study the Vedic sciences with discipline and respect, while presenting their principles responsibly in ways relevant to contemporary society.
He has so far presented 630 talks on Vasthu Sastra and ancient Indian wisdom in 27 countries.
