In recent years, computer technology extensively used in preserving a wealth of ancient knowledge for posterity. We have seen experts in the field of carnatic music creating a CD-ROM containing the encyclopedia of carnatic music.
The latest attempt is the release of a similar CD-ROM last Thursday for Vasthu Sastra – an ancient set of guides to building construction. This CD-ROM is the result of two years of work put in by the Vasthu consultant Lion Yuvaraj, who spent much of his time in preparing the text, and attaching it with appropriate video clipping and photographs. It is the first of its kind in Tamil Nadu.
An inheritor of in-depth knowledge in Vasthu Sastra, from his forefathers, Yuvaraj’s experience in computers as student of Aptech in 989 was helpful in creating the CD-ROM. The CD contains 60 chapters, of intricate details of Vasthu rules demonstrated by the visual presentation.
“I would say such a collection of data is necessary, as interest in Vasthu in increasing in the last in vasthu is increasing in the last five years”, says Lion Yuvaraj. His father Sowma is renowned astrologer of his time who has written many books and founded as astrological Magazine ‘Ungal Ethirkaala Vilakkam,” which is continue to be edited by Yuvaraj.
Talking about the Sastra itself, Yuvaraj describes it is increasingly accepted as a Science just like Astrology. He also explains that Vasthu the angel that rules over the dwelling place of each living thing including human being. “The knowledge might have emerged from the spiritual believes. But, there is a clear scientific explanation to this Sastra”, he says.
According to the Sastra, there is a connection between our body and the place where we live. “Our body is ruled by five elements-earth, air, fire, water, and ether-which is also a part of earth’s make up. Hence these elements corresponding with the eight directions, determined how a building should be constructed.
“A building is thus divided into eight corners which are presumed to have been occupied by eight different Devithas. Constructing the house in the manner prescribed in the Vasthu Sasthra will determine the positive and negative influences of these Devithas”, says Yuvaraj.
Prosperity, health, and general well being of the occupant of a house depend very much on the manner in which it is constructed. “Most of the houses which are up for sales in Chennai are mostly bearing Vasthu faults. The beauty of this Sasthra is that it provides room for correction without demolishing or reconstructing the faulty houses”, says Yuvaraj. Performing Poojas at the house itself is doing this.
“I first go and examine the house myself after analyzing the fault, I prescribe the remedial measure to the occupant of the building then and there”, says Yuvaraj about his method of working. Since it is a science, and nationality.
In a month Yuvaraj provides consultancy to around 60 clients. Some of whom are from America, Europe, and South East Asia. “The CD-ROM that I have prepared will be put in to the web site that I have been running about astrology”, he says. He also adds that the CD-ROM is just the first part. Work on the second part is under way and expected to be out in a year’s time.
In a city where property developing is a costly venture, guidance provided by consultants like Yuvaraj will be helpful in convincing everyone of correcting their construction faults without spending anything on alteration of their premises. With solid aid from computer technology, there is every chance that this Sasthra would get even to the remote out posts of the world. |
