Flaws that draw thieves

Security measures are all well and good but thefts will continue if the financial and prosperity quadrant is flawed.

AFTER three break-ins at his house in Kuala Lumpur over the past year, manager S. Lingam suspected that something is wrong with the Vasthu Sastra orientation of his house. He asks what kind of afflictions can contribute to such issues because the thefts recurred despite the steps he took to improve security following the first incident.

According to the ancient science of construction, defects in the powerful south-west quadrant can result in burglaries and robberies. This is because the south-west is the financial and prosperity portion of the house and any defects can affect the owner’s finances.

I have seen many case studies of break-ins where the causes were attributed to such inauspicious placement.

The south-west is vital because it is the portion where the subtle positive energy gets stored and any opening or weakness in this area will mar the goodness that the dweller is supposed to enjoy.

Among the attributes that can add to the risk of burglaries are:

  • A main gate located in the south-west of a west- or south-facing house;
  • Water bodies like a pond, swimming pool or fountain in the south-west corner of the plot;
  • The south-west of the plot is extended or cut;
  • The south-west of the land is depressed or has a slope; and
  • The extreme corner of the south-west land is curved.

These sectors in the exterior of the house should not be compromised at all and studies have revealed that thieves are more attracted to such properties.

Therefore, it is best that a prospective buyer check the south-west portion of the plot before purchasing the property.

If there are such troubles, the individual should explore the possibility of correcting the faults before committing on the land or house.

Remedies include relocating the main gate away from the south-west, closing the water features in thesouth-west, acquiring the void area or cutting of the protrusion and changing the irregular shape.

The south-west portion of the interior or the physical structure of the house is also equally important and a dweller should check out this sector after viewing the exterior.

For instance, it is inauspicious to have a main door or sliding door located in the south-west as the entry to the house. To ease the situation would be to relocate the main doorway or close the particular entry and use another door or create an opening away from this south-west sector. Houses with split floor levels should ensure that the southern and western areas are not lower than the eastern and northern area.

Having toilets or a staircase or the kitchen in the south-west of the house can also be harmful so these features must be relocated.

Even if a house with such defects is well secured, thefts can occur, not necessarily through break-ins but the owner could face losses through the work of an “inside job” like a maid or worker stealing things. I have personally seen several properties with such flaws and heard the owners lamenting that their belongings are going missing, or getting lost or stolen. Although some of these incidents may be small, the losses could add up to a substantial amount over the long term.

For commercial properties like factories and business premises, similar south-west shortcomings can be serious as the losses incurred can be huge.

Some of the faults commonly found in commercial premises include having the septic tank, water catchment facility or pantry in this critical quadrant.

Factory owners should ensure that the south-west portion of the interior or exterior should not be left empty and free from weight. This should be the heaviest place in the plot or structure, and it should be filled with goods and heavy machinery.

Also, the roads in the eastern and northern sectors and the front of the factory should not be higher than the factory compound or floor level.
